The Association Dançando Para Não Dançar is a nonprofit, non-governmental association located in Rio de Janeiro. Since 1995, Dançando Para Não Dançar has been committed to fighting social exclusion and promoting the culture of peace and citizenship among children of poor districts in Rio. The Association Dançando Para Não Dançar also promotes access to education, culture, health and mainly the teaching of classical ballet as a profession, once traditionally restricted to higher social classes. |

To make this dream come true, the Project counts with the sponsorship of Petrobras and the support of companies and institutions. Due to the dedication of the technical team, parents and students, Dançando is bringing up citizens who are well aware of the power of transformation within their territories, revealing talents capable of projecting Brazil in the international dance scene. There is still a lot to be done and our goal is to keep working and contributing for these children and adolescents to have better opportunities in life and defend them from prostitution, violence and the harsh consequences of drug dealing in their communities. The goal of the Association Dançando Para Não Dançar is to implement a dance school with ballet classrooms, a theater, conference rooms for parents' meetings, scenery and costume classrooms, a study room, a library, a cafeteria and dormitories to cater for students' needs and to expand the areas covered by the project. |
